In order to convert the former Basketball Hall of Fame into a new sports center, located in Springfield, Massachusetts, a complete gut and renovation was needed. The lower two floors presented the additional challenge of very low ceiling heights. In response, a 17,000 SF addition was also included in order to add the volumes needed for a pool, spa, locker rooms and a basketball court. The adaptive re-use produced a bright, open and energized space in an urban setting.
