SEMA4

Stamford, CT

A rapidly growing, patient-centered predictive health company, Sema4 harnesses genomic research to revolutionize the detection, management and prevention of diseases by matching patients to specific products and services. Work this important requires lots of space, including office and research and lab spaces, conference and locker rooms, and receiving and storage areas. When Sema4 sought to expand, BL Companies provided design services to renovate a historic two-story building on the Stamford, CT waterfront. The building, constructed in the early 1900’s as a factory, now offers more than 63,200 SF of space to support Sema4’s ongoing expansion. Designs were tailored to accommodate the intricate roof system featuring concrete-framed monitor skylights, amplifying the infusion of natural light washing into the building. Given the sensitivity of Sema4’s work, clean labs were isolated from other spaces to safeguard the integrity of the sampling process. BL Companies also oversaw the intricate coordination of MEP services within the lab environment, ensuring adequate ventilation despite spatial constraints in select areas of the building.
