Connecticut State Lottery Corporation

Expansion and innovation has been key to the success of the Connecticut State Lottery Corporation. In June 1971, the Connecticut State Lottery was formed as a means of generating revenue for the state. A new location was needed to combine headquarters operations and warehouse facilities into one location as part of the organization’s plan for continued business growth and to provide for advanced computer and security technology.

An initial facilities assessment was conducted to determine the condition of the warehouse. The renovation created nearly 50,000 SF of new office space including a public lobby and claims areas, conference rooms and an atrium courtyard as well as nearly 40,000 SF of warehouse and processing space, parking, landscaping and other site developments. The major design challenges included tight budgeting controls, transformation of the building exterior to provide a street presence, and bringing daylight into the interior to provide a state-of-the-art workplace.
