BL Companies is proud to spotlight a series of recent MEP projects in three Connecticut communities: Fairfield, Madison, and Stamford. These projects showcase our commitment to delivering integrated, energy-efficient solutions that enhance school facilities and learning environments.
In Fairfield, our team supported a $36 million renovation spanning 293,000 square feet across Fairfield Woods Middle School, North Stratfield Elementary, and Osborn Hill Elementary. BL provided comprehensive MEP, fire protection, architectural, structural, and civil design services to support the replacement and upgrade of HVAC systems. Notable improvements included rooftop air-handling units, Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems (DOAS), Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems, Building Management System (BMS) enhancements, updated electrical and lighting, new ceilings, security vestibules, and structural modifications to support mechanical equipment.
In Madison, we delivered major infrastructure upgrades at both Polson Middle School and Daniel Hand High School. At Polson, our team led a $27 million renovation of the 152,000-square-foot school, providing full design and engineering services for new HVAC systems, electrical improvements, a full-building generator, and a renovated auditorium. At Daniel Hand, BL replaced outdated theatrical lighting with a new energy-efficient DMX LED system, complete with networked controls and integrated fire alarm connectivity. These upgrades support more sustainable operations and modernized educational spaces.
In Stamford, BL Companies provided MEP and engineering services for multiple schools, focusing on HVAC upgrades to improve energy efficiency and indoor air quality. At Scofield Magnet Middle School, we replaced 485 tons of rooftop units, upgraded the BMS, and installed a new HVAC system for the Music Room. Stillmeadow Elementary received new gas-fired rooftop units, updated ductwork, and structural roof framing, while Turn of River Middle School saw a full boiler plant upgrade, including high-efficiency condensing boilers, new water heaters, and variable speed pumps.
These projects reflect BL Companies’ dedication to enhancing educational facilities through thoughtful, future-ready MEP design. By partnering closely with each municipality, we continue to deliver tailored, high-performance solutions that create safer, more efficient spaces for students, staff, and the broader community.
