At BL Companies, John Mancini believes his role is to open doors. As Executive Director of Business Development and Client Care, John concerns himself with creating first time opportunities. In this role, John takes on the responsibility of representing BL Companies, not merely selling the services but also backing them up with quality and expertise. He’s become instrumental in branding the company and building relationships with various stakeholders, including local towns, real estate brokers, attorneys and clients.
John has over 35 years of experience working as a civil engineer specializing in site design, roadway design and utility design. His journey into the world of engineering began with a strong admiration for his father and his work ethic, who worked in a factory during the week and ran a construction business on the side. John’s parents had emigrated from Italy to America and John observed how his father and uncles struggled with reading plans, but their determination always led to the successful creation of beautiful structures. This realization inspired John to pursue a career in engineering and construction, envisioning himself as the engineer who would draw clear and understandable plans that would help contribute to the construction of these structures.
John joined BL companies in 1988, and has witnessed the company’s growth, playing diverse roles throughout the firm. Initially starting as a Senior Engineer and Project Engineer, he transitioned into business development in 2008, realizing that client care was one of his passions. In his role he seeks to understand client needs and perspectives, translating those insights to the team to deliver the best results.
Honesty and integrity are at the core of John’s leadership style, believing that being genuine with clients and owning up to commitments sets the foundation for long-lasting relationships. He believes BL Companies’ competitive advantage comes through the integration of all disciplines under one roof, as well as the company’s ESOP culture.

His journey from a young man inspired by his family’s legacy to a respected leader in the engineering industry exemplifies the power of perseverance and a strong work ethic.
