BL Companies provided feasibility studies and designs of 350kW roof-mounted solar arrays on the roofs of three existing stores in New Jersey, which will be tied into the buildings’ electrical service. Preliminary work involved a structural analysis of the existing roofs, to verify that adequate capacity is available for the proposed “Solyndra” solar panels. The design included field-documentation of the existing features on the roofs, including multiple skylights and mechanical units, and preparing the solar module layouts accordingly. BL Companies also provided electrical engineering for these projects, which included wiring distribution, inverter selection and design of the electrical connection to the building’s electrical service.
