Traffic Signals, ConnDOT (State Project No. 171-316)

Under contract with the Connecticut Department of Transportation (ConnDOT), BL Companies prepared plans for the complete replacement of traffic signals at 10 intersections in central Connecticut. The ConnDOT signals in the five towns were all older mast arm installations, determined to be of suspect structural integrity and in need of replacement.

Most of the locations included pre-emption (one with railroad). One location required coordination with geometric changes by the town as part of a downtown revitalization project. Work included survey, traffic counts, capacity and queue analyses and complete plans, specifications, and estimates for the replacement signal installations.

Capacity analyses were prepared using the SYNCHRO Model and traffic signal plans were prepared in Microstation.
