New Haven Academy School

New Haven Academy is a 72,000 SF, four-story inter-district magnet high school for grades 9-12 located in New Haven, CT.  The existing 1948 building was “renovated as new” into a modern educational facility to provide a permanent home for this college preparatory high school. Located on a tight city block bordering a well-established residential community, the building’s exterior was transformed with new masonry cavity walls, windows and cornice to capture the character of the community. The facility features four new science labs along with an expanded media center with views to the exterior and smaller conference rooms and teaching stations designed to promote student collaboration. A new exterior sunken courtyard was created to bring additional light into the lower level cafeteria while providing the students access to this new secure outdoor space. The building received all new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and new finishes, and incorporates the latest technology and security.

Construction was completed in time for the start of the 2016-2017 school year. The building is designed to LEED Silver equivalent and meets the CT High Performance Building Standards.
