The relocation of the Interdistrict School for Arts and Communication to a four-story historic downtown building was met with excitement. The goal was to create a regional public middle school for 255 students in grades
6 through 8 through the adaptive re-use of an existing YMCA building. Interior work included the creation of classroom pods, a gymnasium, cafeteria, art room, music room with stage, offices and support facilities. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems were upgraded. Exterior work included the addition of a safe bus lane, a rear play area façade renovations and roof replacement. The project was completed in 2005.
Project Budget $2,600,000
