BL Companies moved up two spots to No. 231 on the 2026 Engineering News-Record list of Top 500 Design Firms in the United States. BL, the second-ranked Connecticut-based company on the annual list, had a total revenue of more than $111M in 2025.
According to ENR, its lists are an attempt “to bring structure to an otherwise huge and chaotic construction industry by performing annual surveys of its key segments, and ranking companies engaged in general contracting, specialty contracting, engineering, architecture and environmental services, among other specialties. The rankings, based on annual revenue at home and abroad, are further divided into specific market categories. ENR Sourcebooks take that market analysis to a more detailed level by ranking industry leaders in particular market subsets.
Overall, the companies comprising the Top 500 Design Firms list clinched a 7.4% increase in revenue last year to $158.7 billion. Published annually in April, the list ranks the 500 largest U.S.-based design firms, both publicly and privately held, based on design-specific revenue.
