As our interns head back to campus for the fall semester, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the energy, curiosity, and fresh perspectives they brought to BL this summer.
Our 2026 internship program welcomed students to offices across the company, where they worked alongside professionals in Land Development, Environmental, Transportation, Architecture, MEP, and Land Survey. Throughout the summer, interns contributed to real client projects, collaborated with multidisciplinary teams, and gained hands-on experience that extended far beyond the classroom.
The experience began with a two-day orientation in Meriden, where interns connected with one another, met members of BL’s Senior Leadership Team during a roundtable discussion, participated in team-building activities, and learned more about the company’s employee-owned culture. Throughout the summer, they continued building relationships by networking with former interns, enjoying an evening at a Hartford Yard Goats game, and celebrating together at an end-of-July ice cream social.
While the internship program provides valuable professional experience for students, it also strengthens BL. Interns bring fresh ideas, ask thoughtful questions, and approach challenges from new perspectives. Their enthusiasm reminds us that innovation is fueled by curiosity, and that investing in the next generation of professionals benefits our teams, our clients, and our company.
One of the most meaningful aspects of the program is the opportunity for interns to experience what it means to work at an employee-owned company. Whether supporting client projects, collaborating across disciplines, or learning directly from experienced mentors, they gain firsthand insight into a culture built on teamwork, accountability, and shared success. In turn, our employees have the opportunity to mentor emerging professionals, share their expertise, and help shape the future of our industry.
The summer concluded with intern presentations highlighting the projects they supported and the experiences they gained, providing a chance to showcase the meaningful contributions they made during their time at BL.
To our 2026 interns, thank you for your hard work, enthusiasm, and the positive impact you made this summer. We wish you continued success as you return to school and look forward to following your journeys. We hope to welcome many of you back to BL in the future.
